I hope this page helps you answer most of your questions about hypnosis. If you have any other questions, feel welcome to reach out to me and it will be my pleasure to assist you.
WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is a natural state that occurs whenever we are focused on something, and we forget what’s around us or how much time has passed.
Here are a few examples on how we experience it in our daily lives:
- When you are driving, and you suddenly realize you drove miles without realizing it
- When you are watching a great movie and you didn’t see the time go by
- When you’re reading a book and you don’t recall what you’ve just read
Hypnosis enables us to access some unconscious programs (usually limiting beliefs from childhood) and delete what is no longer serving you and install new positive ones. Just like when you update a computer.
During a session, the practitioner merely guides the person to reach a state of hypnosis by occupying the conscious mind, so messages can be delivered to the subconscious mind.
IS HYPNOSIS SAFE?
Absolutely. Hypnosis is completely safe, harmless, and natural.
HOW EXACTLY DOES HYPNOSIS WORK?
Science estimates that the conscious part of you, which is responsible for your logical thinking, rational decision-making and willpower, only makes up about 5% of your brainpower. The remaining 95% is happening on a subconscious level. This is why it can be hard to change a behavior or a habit.
Hypnosis is about keeping the conscious mind busy, so we can access the subconscious mind and make changes.
WHICH HYPNOSIS DO YOU PRACTICE?
I am a certified SAJECE© hypnosis practitioner. This method, created by Camille Griselin, is derived from the Ericksonian hypnosis.
Here is what makes the SAJECE method unique:
- It is non-directive. In other words, you won’t be given any orders to change. Your subconscious will decide by itself what’s the best solution for you.
- No questionnaire to fill out. There is no need to know your life story prior to a session. Why? Because I don’t make any medical or psychologic diagnosis, and it could mislead me.
- Positive metaphors. Here are their different goals:
- Show that there is a solution: give hope
- Change your beliefs
- Release stuck emotions
- Cut unconscious loyalties
- Show you that you are the creator of your life, activate your magic, re-educate your thoughts
- Tell a different story and stop suffering from the past
- Make an update
- Look at the situation from another angle
- Go through the autopilot (the unconscious) and bypass the pilot (the conscious)
- Arouse curiosity, to know the rest of the story
- Understand that this session is an act of love, a gift to yourself, that you already love yourself
Our metaphors are not only solutionist, they also help to deal with the emotional cause and avoid a displacement of the symptom.
WHAT DOES HYPNOSIS FEEL LIKE?
Hypnosis is a state of physical relaxation and heightened mental attention. It feels very much like a deep, guided meditation. It’s relaxing and comfortable. Do not expect to sleep or lose touch with reality. You’ll be able to hear, remember and experience everything that is around you.
You’ll find that you’re perfectly mentally alert, always in control and perfectly able to accept or reject any suggestions given.
CAN ANYBODY BE HYPNOTISED?
Hypnosis will work for you if you want it to work. Your attitude is the vital factor determining how well you will do. A practitioner cannot make you go into hypnosis against your will.
What generally varies is the depth of hypnosis. Some people will experience light hypnosis while others will be able to go deeper into the experience.
CAN I BE STUCK IN HYPNOSIS?
No, you cannot get “stuck” in hypnosis. Let’s say you’re doing a virtual hypnosis session and the internet goes out and you get disconnected. You will simply open your eyes and come out of hypnosis. It’s as simple as that.
Some people enjoy the relaxed feeling of the hypnosis state that they may not want to come out of it, and it takes them a few seconds to come out.
WHEN SHOULD I PAY?
Your payment is due immediately upon booking to secure your appointment.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY?
Cancellations must be reported 24 hours preceding your appointment. Same day cancellations and no-shows will be charged full rate of the scheduled service price. There are no refunds given under any circumstances.
WHERE DO YOUR SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
I offer hypnosis sessions online. Virtual sessions take place remotely via Google Meet.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE?
Please have a quiet place where you can be without distractions for an hour. Having a place to sit or lie down with your head supported is best. The more comfortable you can be, the better. Although not required, I recommend using headphones. Please be sure you’ve eaten and hydrated a few hours before hand, so you are not distracted by hunger or thirst. Turn off your electronics so you are not distracted.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
This varies person to person, and it depends on the issue involved. I suggest waiting 3 weeks after the first session and you can decide if you want or need another one.
I AM WORRIED ABOUT LOSING CONTROL
It is helpful to understand that all hypnosis is really self-hypnosis. I’m only there to facilitate and guide. You allow me to guide you into a deeply relaxed hypnotic state so that we can work together on the identified problem. While in this relaxed state, your conscious mind hears and observes everything. Although your eyes are closed, you will remain aware of everything that is happening.
You simply cannot be hypnotized against your will. Your mind’s job is to protect you and it will not accept anything that goes against your values or belief systems. In the same way, I cannot make you do anything that is against your values that you’re not willing to do.
